Our Garden

Our nursery has the benefit of a large, secure garden, which is used throughout the year for outdoor play; incorporating sensory areas, the children’s own growing garden, messy play areas, a climb on pirate ship and fort, swings, slides and a forest area to explore. We have a large gazebo which the children love to have picnics under in sunny months and a covered outside shelter/play area with all weather activities, allowing fresh air whatever the weather!

 Outings and Visits

In addition to activities in the setting, we also organise educational trips around the local area. These support children's learning and development outside the boundaries of nursery. We take planned trips around the local area, we also have 'adventures' out in the nursery minibus where we visit places such as Cotswold Farm park and Birdland, this all helps to enhance children's development. From writing shopping lists and visiting the shops to purchase our cooking ingredients to taking the bus into town or visiting Tewkesbury Abbey. All trips are risk assessed and safety measures put in place.

We work alongside local businesses within the area and take part in lots of local events including: Tewkesbury Big Weekend, Medieval Festival and singing Christmas carols in coffee shops. We also host summer and winter fetes and invite local and independent businesses to come along.

 Forest Fun

Children all enjoy 'forest fun day' throughout the week with our qualified leader. These sessions are based on the forest school principles. Using resources from our garden environment and forest area children partake in a number of activities from making mud paint and rose petal perfume to making wind-chimes/sun-catchers. All areas of learning are covered as children explore their outdoor den and mud kitchen areas.

We also have the opportunity to visit Kinsham Forest school and take part in further activities and experiences; from songs around the camp fire to whittling our own charcoal pencils.

Wood Working School

We have our very own wood-working area within the nursery garden where we take part in wood working school sessions. Using children's tools our children learn how to carefully hammer and screw nails, cut up pieces of wood, make their own wooden creations and much more. Endless interest and fun for everyone.
