Our Garden

Outdoor play is incredibly important for children. Whilst at nursery they have countless opportunities to play outside in our large, secure garden. We use the garden all year round so children will need to bring wellies and all in one suits in the winter and hats/suncream in the summer.

Children have access to their own vegetable garden where we grow all our own fruits and vegetables, these are then used in nursery meals or in cooking activities. Children also have access to a wildlife area where they can search for frogs and engage in pond dipping.

We also have a large gazebo and patio area which provides hours of shade in the summer months and cover in the rain meaning children can access the outdoors and get fresh air at all times of day and year!

 Outings and Visits

In addition to activities in the setting, we also organise educational trips around the local area. These support children's learning and development outside the boundaries of nursery. We take planned trips around the local area, we also have 'adventures' out in the nursery minibus where we visit places such as Cotswold Farm park and Birdland, this all helps to enhance children's development. From writing shopping lists and visiting the shops to purchase our cooking ingredients to taking the bus into town or visiting Tewkesbury Abbey. All trips are risk assessed and safety measures put in place.

We work alongside local businesses within the area and take part in lots of local events including: Tewkesbury Big Weekend, Medieval Festival and singing Christmas carols in coffee shops. We also host summer and winter fetes and invite local and independent businesses to come along.

 Forest fun

Children all enjoy forest fun throughout the week. These sessions are based on the forest school principles. Using resources from our garden environment and forest area children partake in a number of activities from making mud paint and rose petal perfume to making wind-chimes/sun-catchers. All areas of learning are covered as children explore their outdoor den and mud kitchen areas.
